Semporna, where this photograph was taken, literally means “perfect”. It is a gateway to stunningly beautiful islands and surrounded by the Sulu Sea, and home to the colourful annual lepa lepa regatta. It is also one of the most disadvantaged town in Malaysia and the scene of huge problems relating to statelessness, poverty and environmental destruction.
